The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has announced that they had recommenced their clearance processing on regions that are now under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) since June 1.
On a press statement, NBI Public Information Office Chief Nicanor Suarez revealed that they will resume their workforce on places that were re-evaluated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) from MECQ to GCQ.
NBI suspended its operations last March 18 to follow the Luzon wide quarantine measures implemented by the government to prevent the spreading of the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, NBI officer in charge Eric Distor warned the public against COVID-19 scammers and criminals who are trying to steal personal information. They are sending deceitful e-mails about novel coronavirus and be aware of fake messages that claim it’s from government agencies like offering data about the pandemic.
There were also internet links that provide updates on the virus, subsidies on free food campaigns, donations, and online food purchases to receive money. You can contact NBI Operations Center at 0961-734-9450 or NBI Cyber Crime Division hotline at 8523-8231 to 38.
The agency then advised the applicants to register and pay online before going to their respective clearance centers. They are also reminding everyone to strictly follow their chosen appointment dates.
Those who are below 21 years old, senior citizens, persons with immunodeficiency, comorbidities, and pregnant women are restricted to get their clearances.
Due to the current world health crisis, applicants are instructed to practice the safety protocols given by IATF such as frequent hand washing, observing physical distancing, and wearing face masks.

NBI clearance is used to prove that the person has no criminal records. It is an important document and one of the requirements in applying for work, starting a business, or to study abroad. It is only valid for 6 months or a year since an individual may get involved in a criminal case.
Getting an NBI clearance normally takes long hours of waiting in queue lines but not anymore since they established an online application system that will make the procedure more convenient.
You will need to register on their official website and fill out the information needed. You should also prepare 2 valid government IDs like driver’s license, Unified Multi-Purpose ID, passport, and more. The e-payment service will cost PHP 155 on various payment centers such as bank over the counter, EC Pay, online banking, bayad centers, and 7-Eleven.
